Stephan Jaklitsch: Habits, Patterns, Algorithms

Written by Stephan Jaklitsch and Mark Gardner, this monograph is a study of Stephan Jaklitsch Architects’ work over the past decade (1998-2008). The book presents a diverse selection of the studio’s most noteworthy speculative and built projects. The projects range from retail designs and free-standing residential work that engage the surrounding landscape to larger urban transformations. It is an in-depth exploration of the studio’s process of design and the challenges and particularities presented by the program, client, site, and local construction techniques. Each project is presented with detailed drawings, sketches, models and photographs.

Stephan Jaklitsch: Habits, Patterns, Algorithms includes an essay contribution by Rudolphe El-Khoury and an Introduction by Calvin Tsao. The essay by Stephan Jaklitsch, Epilogue: Looking at Architecture 1998-2008, Notes to Myself, relates the influence and lessons of travel on the details and ideas of the practice.
